Delaware is known as both The First State and The Small Wonder. It was the first state to ratify the United States Constitution and was one of the original Thirteen Colonies being admitted to the Union on December 7, 1787. Delaware is ranked as the 4th state with the smallest population and is the second smallest state in the U.S. Delaware’s climate depends on the effects of the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the state has hot, humid summers and cool to mild winters. Delaware hosts two NASCAR races each year at its Dover International Speedway and Dover Downs.
